InvoiceAdept Free Invoice Generator

What it is

InvoiceAdept Free Invoice Generator is a browser-based tool for making a one-off invoice and saving it as a PDF. It is part of InvoiceAdept, an invoicing app for UK trades, freelancers and small businesses made by Tech Me Today Ltd, a company registered in England and based in Leicester. The generator itself is free and does not ask you to create an account or sign in.

How it works

You open the page, fill in the invoice and click Download PDF. The form has a field for each item a UK invoice normally needs: a unique invoice number, your business name and address, your customer's name and address, the invoice date, a description of the goods or services, the amounts and your payment terms. If you are VAT registered you enter a VAT rate such as 20%, 5% or 0%, and the tool works out the VAT and the totals for you. If you are not VAT registered you leave the rate at 0%.

You can upload your logo and pick the currency, including GBP, EUR and USD. Recent invoices are kept in your own browser, so the next invoice is quicker to fill in. Nothing is stored on InvoiceAdept's servers unless you choose to create an account and save it.

Limits and what is paid

There is no limit on how many PDF invoices you can download from the generator. It makes standalone documents only: it does not send invoices, take payments or keep a numbered record for you. Those features are part of an InvoiceAdept account. The free account plan allows five invoices a month with email delivery and PDF download. The Pro plan (£7.99 a month) adds unlimited invoices, Stripe card payments, sending by WhatsApp with a pay link, automatic reminders, quotes and recurring invoices. Pro+ (£12.99 a month) adds Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) labour and materials deductions for subcontractors, bank reconciliation and cashflow forecasting. InvoiceAdept does not file CIS300 or Making Tax Digital returns to HMRC.

Who it is for

The generator suits sole traders, freelancers and tradespeople who need to send an occasional invoice and do not want to sign up for software first, as well as anyone who wants to check what a correctly laid-out UK invoice looks like. People who invoice every week, take card payments or work under CIS will usually be better served by an account.
