About Krutidev to Unicode
Krutidev to Unicode converts Kruti Dev 010 text to Unicode Hindi, the kind displayed by fonts such as Mangal, and also converts Unicode Hindi back to Kruti Dev. It is a free website with no sign-up. Conversion runs in the browser, so pasted text and document files are not uploaded for processing.
Kruti Dev uses ordinary keyboard characters whose shapes depend on a legacy font. A document can therefore look like Hindi in one place but show unexpected English letters when copied into a website or opened without that font. Converting the text to Unicode makes the underlying characters Devanagari instead of relying on the old font to draw them.
For text conversion, select the direction and paste into the input box. The result appears as you paste or type. Copy the output or download it as a Word file. For the reverse direction, choose Unicode to Kruti Dev and paste your Hindi text. The Copy for Word option sets the Hindi portion in Kruti Dev 010 and the English portion in Arial.
A practical difference is the handling of mixed office documents. When you copy directly from Word or Google Docs, the converter reads the font names included with the clipboard content. It converts the Kruti Dev parts while keeping text in other fonts, such as Arial or Times New Roman, unchanged. This helps preserve English words, numbers and dates that were set in a different font. Plain text does not contain font information: if you type by hand or paste from a plain text file, the input is treated as Kruti Dev.
For an entire document, the Convert a Word file option accepts a .docx and returns a converted .docx. The website describes preservation of English text, tables, headers and bold or italic formatting, while the selected legacy-font text changes encoding. The reverse document conversion is also available. Older .doc files should first be saved as .docx in Word. Choose the converter that matches the source font and review important results before reusing them. Separate linked tools on the site handle Chanakya and DevLys text.
